After the release of the second generation of Xeon Scalable processors, Intel now officially introduces the family of the third generation Xeon Scalable processors. Codenamed "Cooper Lake/Cedar Island," these high-end processors are designed for DL (deep learning), density virtual machine (VM), in-memory database, MCA (mission-critical applications) and analytics-intensive workloads.
New 3rd generation scalable processors come with a new set of instructions, aimed at achieving peak performance for functions such as High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The latest Cooper Lake processors provide 1.93 times the AI training performance for image classification when compared to first-generation scalable CPUs. Intel goes beyond AI with hardware-specific features on 3rd generation Xeon Scalable processors and the first AI-enhanced FPGAs.
