The NVIDIA Tesla K40 GPU features a 745MHz core that can be boosted (overclocked) by the end user up to 875MHz, and contains 2,880 Kepler generation CUDA cores (streaming processors) that allow it to perform hundreds of calculations simultaneously . To ensure that data is transferred to and from the processors as efficiently as possible, the card contains 12GB of GDDR5 RAM via a 384-bit memory interface. The original 750MHz memory clock speed is effectively boosted to 3GHz thanks to the fact that GDDR5 memory transmits data at four words per cycle. This results in a memory bandwidth of 288 GB/s.
